About Me

Hello,
I am Roxana Andrade and this is my Fashion Portfolio. In this portfolio you will find technical flats created with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I am currently attending California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA for Apparel Merchandising and Management, emphasis in Retailing. I transferred from Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA where I received an Associates of Science in Fashion Merchandising. I am a general body member of Hermanas Unidas (HaU), two of the main pillars are academics and volunteering.
This Spring (2016), I was working with the Career Center at Cal Poly Pomona. In working with them, I was a part of being in charge of helping redesign the Clothes Closet and create a functioning inventory system. I also help with replenishing inventory by seeking out donations form students and faculty. I was also given an opportunity to be a stylist for their Career Success Conference Fashion Show. I also volunteered in helping them with their Open House event.
As a child I was always interested in making my own garments; I would get scraps of fabrics and try to make clothing for my Barbie dolls. When I was in intermediate school I begged my parents to buy me my first sewing machine, after lots of nagging they finally gave in and agreed to buy me one. I had to learn on my own, I picked it up quickly.
At Mount San Antonio College, I was a double major for both Merchandising and Design options, due to me transferring to Cal Poly Pomona I was not able to obtain a degree in Design, I am only one class short of getting it. I plan on going back and finishing that degree soon.
I see myself as a double threat, being a Retailing student, yet having knowledge and experience with elements from the Design option as well. This gives me a competitive advantage over others pursuing jobs within the same field as I am. As I can easily adapt and transition into different roles and environments.

I run Opal Dreams a DIY and Lifestyle blog on my spare time.
